EXPERTISE. PERSPECTIVE. OUTCOMES.

Special Education Advocacy

Our mission is to educate, support, and advocate on behalf of children and their families. Our goal is to work collaboratively with families and school districts to meet the vast and diverse needs of children with special needs.

Navigating the special education process is an emotional and uncertain time for any parent. Our Special Education Advocacy program is designed to support families through that process. Parents and caregivers who work with Proven can expect a supportive partnership with clear and open communication throughout the entire experience. We will work collaboratively with you and your child’s IEP team to ensure success within their school.

Special Education Advocacy services are not funded by health insurance. Unless enrolled in our Foundations Program, Special Education Advocacy services are billed directly to the client’s family with hourly fees based on services provided.

Program Purpose

A child with a disability is entitled to a “free and appropriate” education under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Unfortunately, comprehensive Special Education services are expensive. Additionally, navigating and securing special education services for your child can be confusing and overwhelming. The purpose of our Special Education Advocacy program is to work with families to help them identify and resolve issues related to their child’s education. We educate parents & caregivers about procedures they must follow to protect their child’s rights under the law.

Program Features

I

Parent & Caregiver Education

We provide parents & caregivers educational workshops to teach them how to be an effective advocate for their child. Topics include Transition Planning, Introduction to the IEP Process, Introduction to Special Education Law, Effective Advocacy Strategies, and more. Attending these trainings are a requirement for participation in the Foundations Program.

I

Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Assistance

We ensure parents & caregivers understand their child’s IEP. For children preparing to transition into the public school system and are undergoing the IEP process for the first time, we ensure that the child’s first IEP is done correctly and that the child’s unique needs are addressed sufficiently.

I

Advocate Representation

We provide clinically and academically-trained Advocates to represent client families throughout the IEP process. We act on behalf of the family during the IEP coordination process and in IEP meetings. Additionally, we leverage our connections with experienced Special Education attorneys in our community to provide access to expert advice and legal representation, if required.
