If you’re searching for a way to get your child out of the house and engaged in a fun activity, The Great Blizzards of Massachusetts Special Ice Hockey, in Kingston, MA, might be a great option. The program works with people of all ages (5+) and is dedicated to providing people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities the opportunity to play the exciting sport of ice hockey. The next season kicks off tomorrow, September 19.

The program teaches ice skating with experienced “Learn to Skate” coaches, and teaches ice hockey skills with highly experienced, successful ice hockey coaches and special educators, and gives the player the opportunity to play a team sport. Through ice hockey, the program emphasizes the continued development of individual life skills such as self-reliance, dependability, concentration/focus, willingness to share, sportsmanship, decision-making, personal accountability and confidence. Prior skating or hockey experience is not required.
